Have You Installed Your
Dimmer Switch?

By Vincent Harris
For years I walked into my office and thought the lights
were too bright. But not having any windows in my office at
that time, I had two options; lights on, or lights off. When
the lights were turned off, there was barely enough light to
safely find my way to the door, working was virtually
impossible.

One day, after having heard me mention the brightness of
my office lights, a client of mine, who just happened to be
an electrician said, "Why don't you let me put in a dimmer
switch? Then you can adjust them to any brightness you
like!"

It only took him 30 minutes to install a switch that gave me
complete control over the intensity of my lights. If I found
them too bright, I could slowly....or quickly....dial down the
switch, and dim them to the perfect comfort level.....easily
and effortlessly.

While having a dimmer switch in my office made things run
much smoother, the day I learned about the dimmer switch
we could install in our minds was life changing. I can tell
you this, the dimmer switch can change your life.

So, what is this dimmer switch? First let's cover a few
simple concepts about how your brain works. We each
respond to the pictures, images, and movies that go on
inside our head. Think about it, when you are worrying
about something that might happen to you, how do you
know that's what you are worrying about?

Even though we're usually not conscious of these pictures
and movies, we respond to them nonetheless. What we
are
usually aware of, are the feelings that those pictures and
images create.
What I'm about to reveal can instantly
transform your worry into comfort and a sense of freedom
about your ability to control your emotions.

I invite you to take a moment and think of something that
happened earlier today...anything. Now, as you notice what
pictures, images, or movies are in your mind when you are
thinking about this memory, you may be surprised to notice
that
there is a certain brightness to the lighting of the
images or movie that goes with this memory
. The
brightness holds one of the keys to changing the feelings
related to this memory.

Now, simply pretend that earlier today, you installed a
dimmer switch in your mind. Imagine that you are dialing
the dimmer switch to a brighter level. Most people will
notice that the intensity of
this memory increases as it gets
brighter.

As you continue focusing on this memory, "dial" the dimmer
switch down, making the lights decrease in brightness,
almost getting dark.
For most people, this will literally drain
much of the feeling right out of the memory.

What would it be like if you could use this technique to
instantly decrease or eliminate the negative feelings that
have been associated with a certain memory? Would that
be useful?

How would your life change, if every time you thought of a
good memory, or even a future event that would bring
happiness, you were able to effortlessly dial up the
pleasure of those thoughts and amplify your happiness?

You can! I urge you to explore the possibilities this
technique provides this week. Next week, we'll look at yet
another rapid strategy for shifting your experiences at will.
